HR Manager and Executive Personal Assistant job summary
This is a new role within our local Schools’ Trust. It represents an exciting opportunity for an appropriately qualified and experienced professional.
The Corinium Education Trust currently has 6 schools: one secondary, Cirencester Deer Park, and 5 primaries, 2 of which joined the Trust this year.
We are seeking to appoint a HR Manager and Executive Personal Assistant to our small central team to build capacity and extend wider support to our schools. The Trust employs 257 members of staff.
Our new HR Manager and Executive Personal Assistant will contribute to the smooth operation of the Trust and manage all HR processes. While you will be based in our offices at Cirencester Deer Park School, you will work in the best interests of all staff across our schools. Specifically, you will:
- Oversee and manage all HR administration and processes across the Trust to ensure consistency and compliance and act as Personal Assistant to the Trust Lead (CEO) and other members of the Trust’s Executive Team and comprehensive and professional support to ensure they are fully supported in all aspects of their work, including confidential matters.
Full details of the role are set out in the accompanying job description.
Applicants will:
have experience of working in a Human Resources related environment and have a good knowledge and understanding of employment law and key HR processes e.g. recruitment, appraisals, absence management;
be flexible in their approach to work, self-motivated and be able to prioritise their work effectively in order to meet deadlines;
possess good interpersonal qualities, strong communication skills and be computer literate, with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, strong Excel skills and familiar with relevant HR software.
Previous experience of working in an education setting or similar would be advantageous, although this is not essential.
We are hoping our new HR Manager and Executive PA will be able to join the Trust on 1 September 2025, subject to the necessary employment checks and any notice period. We will support the successful applicant’s induction into the role and there will be opportunities to visit the Trust and meet the team.
The successful candidate will work for 37.5 hours a week. We have initially suggested these are worked 8:30am to 4:30pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. However, there is flexibility here to adjust these hours to accommodate personal circumstances and to meet the operational needs of the Trust and our schools. This is also the opportunity for hybrid working.
The HR Manager and Executive PA will be based in the Trust’s Offices at Cirencester Deer Park School but may need to travel to our schools to meet with Headteachers and key administrative staff.
Whilst the main point of contact will be with the Trust Lead (CEO), an ability to engage with the wider Trust team and interact with school staff, governors and Trustees is also very important.
The Corinium Education Trust is committed to equality of opportunity and safer recruitment of staff. Employment will be subject to enhanced clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service and completion of a satisfactory 6 month probationary period. All Staff are required to comply with a Code of Conduct for school staff.
Pay and Conditions of ServicePay and conditions will be in accordance with those set by the National Joint Council for Local Government Services.
The post of HR Manager and Executive PA is a permanent post required to start on 1 September 2025, working 37.5 hours per week as stated above.
The post will be term time plus three weeks, including one week for INSET days. The contract, including holidays, is for 47.04 weeks per year, which includes 6.04 weeks paid holiday.
The post is Grade 8, point range 26-30, giving a base salary for this post of between £36,124 - £39,513 pro rata depending on experience.
