ICT Technician/SIMS Administrator (Technical) The Burgate School and Sixth Form, Fordingbridge, Hampshire

Job description

We are seeking to appoint a friendly, professional and motivated individual to join us in the role of ICT Technician/SIMS Administrator (Technical) to support the work of the school by providing technical IT support to teachers and students and looking after the school's network.

This is a non-teaching role and the successful candidate will have a good knowledge of general IT hardware and software, will be highly organised and have excellent communication skills. Previous experience of working in an academic environment would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.

This post is for 37 hours a week/52 weeks per year. The salary is Scale 3 (£17,681-£18,672) to Scale 4 (£18,870-£20,541) dependent on experience. This is subject to a pending decision on a pay award.

Essential educational requirements

Good level of education to at least GCSE standards or equivalent. Qualifications to A Level and beyond would be an advantage.

Essential qualifications

Good knowledge of Microsoft products, including Office 365, SharePoint and other desktop related software products;

Essential skills and experience

Good verbal and written communication skills;
Self-motivated, with a can do attitude and a strong commitment to team-work and customer service;
Ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues;
Ability to self-manage, organise and prioritise tasks and work under pressure during troubleshooting and problem-solving;
Flexible, adaptable and capable of handling the various pressures and demands associated with this demanding and customer focussed ICT support role;
Good knowledge of Microsoft products, including Office 365, SharePoint and other desktop related software products;
Excellent troubleshooting skills, backed by a clear, analytical approach to problem solving;
Ability to react quickly and effectively to issues and opportunities;
Ability to work with confidential information and to maintain confidentiality in keeping with academy policies and legal requirements.
