Inclusion Assistant job summary

The Inclusion Assistant plays a key role in supporting pupils’ academic, social, emotional and behavioural development across Reception to Year 11. The postholder will work closely with leaders, teachers, families and external agencies to deliver targeted inclusion strategies, remove barriers to learning, and promote positive behaviour, attendance and wellbeing in line with the school’s faith values. Your work will support the wider mission of promoting active citizenship, inclusivity and respect, and the Sikh value of sarbat da bhalla—the common good of all.

The role involves delivering targeted inclusion and intervention programmes for pupils with additional needs, including those with SEND, SEMH needs, Pupil Premium, EAL, children known to social services, and pupils experiencing vulnerability. You will support the implementation of Learning Support Plans, EHCPs and Early Help processes, maintaining accurate records and contributing to a graduated approach of plan, do, review.

You will build positive, professional relationships with pupils and families, promote positive behaviour and resilience, and support pupils to develop confidence, independence and aspiration. The postholder will also contribute to safeguarding, supervision, transitions, induction, attendance initiatives and the wider life of the school, upholding the school’s faith values, ethos and commitment to inclusion and the common good.

Collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with colleagues to develop schemes of learning, share good practice and deliver consistent, high‑quality provision. You will maintain accurate records, provide meaningful feedback, analyse assessment data and communicate confidently with parents and pastoral teams to support pupil progress.

Safeguarding and inclusion are integral components of the post. You will uphold all school and statutory policies related to child protection, equality, health and safety, and the welfare of students. The role requires a reflective, proactive practitioner committed to ongoing professional development and contributing positively to the growth of a thriving, values‑driven school.
