We are very excited to be recruiting for 2 Inclusion Intervention Assistants to join our SEN team. We are particularly interested in people with primary school experience and those with training within the four main categories of special educational needs. Havant Academy has a high number of students who are working below age related expectations. In order to support these students we are seeking someone who has experience, or is willing to commit to training, and can adapt to situations as they arise. As an academy we actively invest in our staff and have excellent career development opportunities.

The main function of the role is to support students with special educational needs. This support will come in a variety of forms such as in class, group interventions, one to one intervention, mentoring, exam access arrangements and encompass both academic and pastoral needs. Applicants with specific expertise will have the opportunity to implement their knowledge and experience by targeted interventions. This is an extremely rewarding position and we are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting students to achieve success from their starting point.

This position is term time only plus one week. 39 school weeks plus 1 additional week to be worked in the summer holidays at our successful summer camp for our incoming cohort. Full time working hours are 8am – 4pm Monday – Thursday and 8am – 3.30pm Friday. We would welcome applications from those seeking part time or flexible working arrangements. The pay scale is Hampshire scale C - D, depending on experience.

Essential experience

⮚ Ability to support students with a diverse range of special educational needs through classroom support and targeted interventions.

⮚ Good knowledge and understanding of literacy & numeracy incorporating KS1 to potentially KS4.

⮚ Understanding the importance of all students' entitlement to equal access to education.

⮚ Communication skills both written and verbal. ⮚ Understanding of safeguarding children.

⮚ Ability to work as part of a team.

⮚ Good organisational skills and flexible with changes. Desirable experience

⮚ Previously/currently employed in a teaching assistant role.

⮚ Experience with behaviour management.

⮚ Experience in a school environment.

⮚ Degree level education.

⮚ Qualifications and experience with the four main categories of special educational needs
