We are seeking to appoint, as soon as possible, an Inclusion Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to have a key role in working as part of a successful pastoral team, supporting students at Humphry Davy School. As a central part of the Student Support team you will be expected to assist the Raising Standards Leads in meeting the individual needs of students; including managing the behaviour of students in the reflection/reset room.

You will provide practical support, advice and mentoring to individual students to support them to develop their social and emotional skills and behaviour for learning in order to achieve success.

This is a varied and fulfilling role which will provide a complementary service throughout the school to enhance existing provision; supporting learning and encouraging social inclusion; notably for those students experiencing difficulties in managing their behaviour.

We are looking for an excellent team player and communicator who has the confidence to deal with a range of pastoral issues and the ability to take the lead and show initiative. You must have a track record and passion for working with young people. You will have strengths in supporting them; showing care and attention; providing a listening ear, and the ability to act accordingly in a variety of circumstances. You need to be an emotionally resilient person, with superb attention to detail, and a high understanding of the role and responsibility around safeguarding.

Humphry Davy School is situated in beautiful West Cornwall and is committed to ensuring the highest quality of education for all our students. Ofsted (Short Inspection November 2016) judged the school as ‘good’ and stated, “Across the school we found that pupils were very keen to learn. Pupils we spoke with enjoy coming to school and feel that they are making good progress. Pupils are well-mannered and keen to tell visitors how good the school is and how it keeps them safe”. A more recent visit in July 2022 by the LA education effectiveness team highlighted how staff create a positive atmosphere and inclusive ethos, leading to all students having a sense of belonging to the Humphry Davy Community.
We look forward to the publication of the most recent report, following inspection in May 2023
