Inclusion Lead job summary

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, confident and knowledgeable leader who will be responsible for all aspects of safeguarding, lead the school in ensuring inclusive practice is of a high standard, having a strong vision for improving the life chances of children and someone who will champion our most vulnerable children and families. To enable the successful candidate the greatest opportunity for impact, the role initially does not come with any classroom responsibility. As a key member of our Strategic Leadership Team, you will also receive administrative support co-ordinated by our Operational Office Manager.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same, it is essential therefore that the successful candidate must be able to work under pressure, have a high level of personal drive, energy and resilience. The successful candidate will continue to embed a culture and whole-school approach to inclusion and addressing and responding to the diversity of needs of a variety of learners by leading and managing the strategic and operational direction of successful inclusive practice. At the core of this is a focus on high aspirations and consistently removing barriers so that each learner will be enabled to achieve the maximum benefit from their education at Gorsemoor.

The Inclusion Lead will be responsible for the leadership and management of staff and so it is essential that the successful candidate has had leadership experience.

This strategic leadership role will require a candidate who:
Can think whole-school and strategically about needs and matching
them with interventions.
Can deliver on being in and out of classrooms supporting teachers
with their differentiation and personalised learning on a daily basis
Can identify need and deal with complex pupil situations.
Can positively influence the system to get what both the school and
pupil need with tenacity, calm and a willingness to go the extra mile at
every junction.
Can provide bite-sized information to teaching staff about their pupils
on a regular basis, are available as a go-to person for continuous
teaching and learning support, and can even help nurture the
relationship between teaching assistants and teachers.

The Inclusion Lead will be in and out of classes all-day, every day. It is a whole-school leadership role that requires both teaching and learning and pastoral strengths. The Inclusion Lead has to be able to make their team of staff into an “inclusive army” that is valuable to the school and they simply cannot do this without line management and leadership experience and expertise.
Can effectively and efficiently cope with the demands of paperwork.
Can read, use and feel at home with whole-school data
Can support whole-school planning in senior leadership meetings and contribute to both pastoral and curriculum development.
Can be compliant with the SEND Code of Practice, Ofsted and the latest policies.
Can deploy resources intelligently and can accurately and dynamically meet needs with high impact and easily measurable provision.
Can lead on related issues such as looked-after children, narrowing the attainment gap, and English as an additional language.
