We are looking to appoint an Inclusion Manager to lead our Reflections and Mentoring Base which is a short-term provision for students who have demonstrated challenging behaviour in our school. The Reflections Centre provides a consequence for students making the wrong choices regarding their behaviour, whom we then aim to return to school, typically the next day, having repaired and restored relationships, with targets set for instant improvement. In our Reflection Room students work silently on Chromebooks to access their normal timetable, working independently using online resources provided by their teacher. Each student receives academic support and pastoral mentoring culminating in the setting of targets for the Inclusion Manager to track, often by liaising with Heads of Year and parents/carers. In our Mentoring Base a small number of students who have demonstrated the most challenging behaviour and/or not responded effectively to support in our Reflection Room receive enhanced individual mentoring, closer monitoring and escalated implementation of interventions.

Experience and knowledge of working with young people with challenging behaviour is essential. You will need to be able to recognise and respond assertively and compassionately to the needs of pupils. To use detailed knowledge of students as individuals to support pupils' learning and provide emotional support for pupils with problematic personal lives.

Key aspects of the role involve:

* Establishing productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.

* Ability to manage time effectively, organise & prioritise workloads and work proactively to ensure objectives are fulfilled
* Deliver packages of support to students who are at risk of exclusion or are experiencing significant issues that are damaging their academic progression.
* Ability to help us build on the breadth of the educational experiences we offer both in and out of the classroom.

The successful candidate needs to demonstrate the following:

* Behaviour Management strategies to encourage positive behaviour.
* Knowledge and experience of intervention programmes that accelerate progress.
* Commitment to raising attainment and safeguarding vulnerable young people.
* Experience or willingness to undertake advanced Safeguarding training.

Come and visit us to meet the team of students and staff who are making Firth Park Academy one of the best schools in our city:
