  • Qualified teacher status together with teaching experience.
  • National Award for SEN coordination or a willingness to complete it within 3 years of appointment;
  • Degree
  • Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice;
  • Ability to plan and evaluate interventions.
  • Understanding of what makes 'quality first' teaching and of effective intervention strategies.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good record-keeping skills.
Data analysis skills and the ability to use data to inform provision planning.
  • Commitment to getting the best outcomes for pupils and promoting the ethos and values of the school.

The Governors are looking to appoint an experienced, caring and dedicated teacher who currently holds the National Award for Special Educational Needs Co-ordination, or is willing to undertake training to achieve the qualification. We are looking for applicants who are looking to make a positive difference, enthusiastic and committed to the aims of SEND and capable of initiating and developing effective strategies which enable our SEND pupils to achieve their potential.

The SENDCO/Inclusion Manager will -

  • Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEND) policy and provision in the school
  • Be responsible for day to day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
  • Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
  • The SENCO will be expected to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher, as set out the the STPCD
