Inclusion Officer job summary

Inclusion Officer

Loxley Hall School

Are you a compassionate, dynamic, and proactive individual looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young people? Loxley Hall School, an all-boys SEMH residential school with 96 planned places, is seeking an exceptional Inclusion Officer to join our dedicated team.

About the Role

The Inclusion Officer will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for our students. A key focus of the role is managing and running our Emotional Support Unit (ESU) – a self-referral room where students can access emotional support when needed.

The ESU provides a vital space for students, and the successful candidate will ensure it remains a welcoming environment while maintaining high standards. You will need the ability to differentiate between students genuinely seeking support and those using the space to avoid lessons, with fairness and sensitivity.

Under the guidance of the Senior Leadership Team, you will support students to overcome barriers to learning, helping them achieve their full potential both inside and outside the classroom.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone with:

  • Compassion and Understanding: A strong desire to provide the very best learning environment for our students.
  • Relationship-Building Skills: Experience in building positive relationships with students, families, and carers.
  • Self-Management and Initiative: The ability to independently manage the ESU, including maintaining accurate records and ensuring the space operates effectively.
  • Mentoring and Support Skills: The capability to develop 1:1 mentoring relationships with pupils requiring additional emotional support.
  • Data Analysis Skills: The ability to track and analyse data related to student engagement with the ESU, including patterns of usage and outcomes, to inform decision-making and report on impact
  • Organisational Skills: Strong record-keeping and the ability to assist in the identification and implementation of action plans for students needing additional support.
  • Professionalism and Discretion: An understanding of the importance of providing a quality service and handling sensitive and confidential information with care.
  • Collaborative Skills: A readiness to liaise with parents, outside agencies, Education Welfare, and the police when necessary.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people with SEMH needs.
  • A dynamic and supportive environment: Work alongside a team of dedicated professionals, supported by trustees who provide strong leadership, challenge, and guidance.
  • Professional development: We are committed to the ongoing development of our staff and will provide opportunities to grow your skills and career within a supportive framework.
  • Access to excellent benefits: We offer a comprehensive and flexible Employee Assistance Program, including:
  • Tech and Cycle-to-Work schemes
  • Online gym classes and health & wellbeing support
  • Financial advice services
  • Thinkwell fast-track counselling
  • Physiotherapy and retail discounts at supermarkets, high street stores, and for days out.
