St Mark's is a Roman Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School for children between the ages of four and eleven years. It opened in 1967 to cater for Catholic children in the south and west of Ipswich, stretching from Felixstowe in the east to the Suffolk border to the south, thus completing the availability of Catholic education in the area.
As a Voluntary Aided School, the Roman Catholic Church, through the school's Governing Body and the Diocese of East Anglia, is responsible for the religious direction of the school, the appointment of teachers and the exterior maintenance of the school.
