Inclusion Practitioner - Specialist Provision job summary
We are seeking to appoint a confident, hard-working, highly skilled practitioner, with experience working with pupils with high level needs (or a desire to specialise in this area) to work within the specialist provision unit within our mainstream setting.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work alongside our specialist support teacher, to promote an alternative child-centred approach to meeting the needs of identified pupils who have previously struggled to thrive. The role will require a forward thinking, creative approach combined with resilience and determination to improve outcomes for children, some of whom sometimes exhibit significantly challenging behaviour.
Applicants will need to be highly organised, pro-active, versatile and resilient. An enthusiasm for creative activities and an interest in action research would be a distinct advantage.
Responsibilities will include setting up and maintaining a bespoke environment and planning and preparing provision, indoors and out, alongside the specialist support teacher. It will involve working directly with pupils, parents and other staff from a wide range of external agencies to improve outcomes for our most vulnerable children and their families.
Candidates will require the ability and confidence to undertake short periods of cover supervision with the support of other staff if required, for example due to the class teacher attending EHCP reviews. A willingness to undertake specialist training is essential. High expectations and the capacity to relate to, engage with, and empower vulnerable pupils and their families are essential requirements for this post.
