HJA is a vibrant and creative community of learners whose strong ethic of excellence is the foundation for all that we do. Humberstone Junior Academy is a place where great achievements and magical experiences happen daily. We believe that there are no limits to what can be achieved by our bright and motivated children and our curriculum is designed to produce excellent outcomes and independent thinkers and learners. The year on year improvements in our KS2 results are a testament to our belief that we can always achieve more! Our staff are skilled and committed professionals who care passionately about children's learning and are always willing to go the extra mile to support a pupil.
Creativity, innovation and excellence are at the heart of our approach to learning. Imagine coming to a school where you may be immersed in magical imaginary worlds such as Narnia or the great castles of Macbeth! Study a wide range of rich and challenging texts through our creative novel study approach. Experience maths lessons that really challenge your critical thinking skills through real world experiences such as enterprise and design. Exciting essential questions drive our project based learning curriculum; for example, "What makes me who I am?” “What would our environment be like without trees?” “How do birds and insects fly?" A sense of awe, wonder and curiosity about the world are central to our school’s vision and to our curriculum.
We are a community based school and are proud of all that we have to offer to our children and families. Whether that is the 7:45 to 5:30 wrap around care program or our extensive program of clubs and enrichment activities offering everything from our ICT Blog Club to fencing and everything in between! Whatever the child's talent we will find it, nurture it and hopefully develop new talents along the way!
