Job Coach- (Special Education Needs Support Assistant - Level 5) job summary

The St Bart's Multi Academy Trust, in partnership with Governors, staff and children of Abbey Hill Academy and College are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our hard working and committed team.

Job Purpose

To work with teachers as part of a professional team to support teaching and learning for SEN pupils. Providing specialist assistance to pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning, such as those with moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and/or behavioural, social, communication, sensory or physical disabilities. These pupils are part of our Supported Interns programme and the role will be supporting them in their work placements and travel training to and from their placements. You must:

  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues and parents / carers.
  • Be computer literate, organised and have a good general standard of education at Level 2 or above, including English and Maths as well as meeting the occupational standards in Supporting Teaching & Learning Level 3
  • Have experience of supporting pupils’ learning in a school environment
  • Be resilient and have strong behavioural management skills
  • Ideally have experience of working with pupils with communication & interaction difficulties and/or Autistic Spectrum Conditions
  • Full driving licence is desirable due to working with pupils in placement locations
