Key Stage 1 or 2 Class teacher job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate class teacher to join our thriving primary school. As a class teacher, you will have the opportunity to work with enthusiastic and well-behaved children in our nurturing community. We have a holistic approach that values the individual child. Our older children are fantastic role models to our younger children. Our OFSTED report (April 2022) says that “Pupils appreciate their teachers and they enjoy learning.” The report comments on the positive attitudes of pupils and how the school has a warm and friendly ethos.

Our teachers benefit from homeworking during their PPA time and due to us being a one form entry school there is collaborative working across all year groups and a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. All staff benefit from wellbeing support including a private GP service. We offer a supportive environment with a focus on meaningful professional development supporting all staff to develop and grow in their careers.

If you are an ECT you will be given additional time and support with the benefit of being guided by an experienced mentor. If as an ECT you are appointed your contract will begin in July.

We run our own 30-hour nursery and prioritise the admission of nursery places for children of staff. We have a great mix of highly experienced teachers and those in their early stages of teaching.

Our grounds are extensive and a fantastic resource to enhance learning. Our youngest children access Forest School. We have a beautiful library and a music specialist who leads the children’s music lessons once a week. We also have a number of close links with other organisations in the community.

The Governors and staff of Kenilworth Primary School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Where possible references will be taken up before interview. All short-listed candidates will have a social media check. All short-listed candidates will be asked to disclose criminal convictions that are subject to DBS check if they have not already done so on the application.

We would strongly encourage any prospective candidates to visit our school. We would love to meet you and show you around. Please contact Fiona Ajose Headteacher, on 02089533459 or email Katie Seal at kseal@kenilworth.herts.sch.uk. for further details, an informal discussion and where possible to arrange a visit. The person specification forms a key part in our short-listing process so please ensure you have considered this when making your application.
