We are a small, friendly, family school, with great children and a friendly team of staff. Situated in Rothwell, about 3 miles south of Leeds City centre, we serve a local community which is economically and socially diverse and draws its pupils from the surrounding area. The percentage of pupils eligible for free school meals is above average. A small number of our pupils are from ethnic minority families. The school is one and a half form entry with 161 pupils aged 7-11 years on roll. Most of the children transfer to us at the end of KS1 from our local infant feeder school – Cockburn Haigh Road Academy.
The school caters for a very wide ability range and aspires to provide an exciting, creative curriculum that is meaningful and relevant to our children. The OFSTED inspection in May 2023 judged Victoria as Good overall with Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare judged to be strengths of the school. The report states:
• The school’s vision and values are evident in the day-to-day life of the school.
• Leaders expect pupils to work hard and show care and respect to others.
• The provision for personal development is of a high quality. Leaders provide an impressive range of opportunities to help pupils develop their understanding of the world
• Leaders have carefully planned the curriculum that they want pupils to study in all subjects
• Leaders are highly knowledgeable about the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
We have very good links with our local Family of Schools and extended services cluster, which provides excellent opportunities for networking and collaborative work.
We are looking for a self-motivated person who is passionate about education and interested in working within a team who are determined to make a difference to children’s futures.
Unfortunately, due to school holidays, visits to the school may not be possible. However we very much welcome interested applicants making an appointment for a telephone conversation with the Head Teacher prior to submitting an application. This can be arranged by emailing: amanda.burrow@victoria-jun.leeds.sch.uk
