Key Stage 3 Co-ordinator - English job summary
Full Time
Start Date: September 2019
Northampton Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious KS3 Coordinator for English.
The successful candidate will fully embrace our values of Respect, Determination and Ambition, and will have a working knowledge of how these will apply within a Secondary Academy context and within the role itself.
The leadership of the Academy is completely determined to create an environment in which teachers can get on with their core role: delivering excellent lessons. To this end, the student behaviour system is clear and simple and easy to administer in lessons. If action is needed beyond these simple steps, the pastoral and senior teams take all the burden away from the teachers, conducting detentions, following up and dealing with parents on your behalf. Teachers at the Academy speak of this as one of the major benefits of working here. In addition to this, teachers are trusted to be professionals through:
· No unannounced observations
· No lesson grading
· 3 extra INSET days per year for joint team planning
· A feedback and recognition policy that lets teachers decide the best feedback mechanism for their own classes, rather than having this prescribed centrally
· No emails (except safeguarding) after 5.30pm and at weekends
As KS3 Coordinator for English, you will lead on all aspects of KS3 English teaching and will have specific responsibility for tracking the progress and attainment of students within the subject area across KS3. We will expect you to manage and help develop a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for the subject area at KS3. This is an opportunity to make a direct impact on standards of student attainment and achievement through your fresh ideas, motivational skills and keen focus on improvement.
We are looking for a middle-leader who will inspire students in our school to achieve their full potential. In turn, the post provides strong opportunities for professional development in an environment where staff are highly valued, well supported and enjoy their work.
Northampton Academy is part of United Learning, a unique group of independent and state schools working together to achieve the best in everyone. Our vision is to provide excellent education so that all young people are able to make a success of their lives and, if we are to realise this vision, we need to make sure we attract, develop and reward the key ingredient – high quality staff such as you.
Northampton Academy is committed to equal opportunities and to the protection and safety of all students and adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share these commitments.
The post will be subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure.
Closing Date: Tuesday 23rd April 2019 at 12 noon.
