What skills and experience we're looking for

You will need:

  • Hold an appropriate teaching certificate and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Hold a recognised degree (or equivalent) with a good classification in a relevant subject
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching your subject
  • Detailed knowledge of current curriculum and pedagogical developments in the teaching of your subject and the wider curriculum
  • Experience teaching Key Stage 5
  • Ability to teach your subject area up to Key Stage 4
  • Desire to further raise overall achievement in your subject area through promoting the highest standards of teaching and learning
  • A flexible approach to the teaching of your subject that seeks to promote the learning opportunities of all students and to secure the highest possible levels of achievement

We are looking for a Key Stage 4 Mathematics Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT / Greenshaw High School and become an integral member of the Mathematics department.

Mathematics is a highly successful and very popular A Level subject at Greenshaw with an excellent track record of exam results. Our GCSE outcomes are regularly in the top 10% nationally, and our A Level Maths (and Further Maths) results allow our students to progress to a range of STEM degrees at Russell Group universities, including Cambridge, Bristol and Warwick.

Main responsibilities:

  • Support the Deputy Head of Department’s work on monitoring, evaluating, reviewing and developing the design and delivery of the Key Stage 4 curriculum and Schemes of Work, ensuring that all students at Key Stage 4 are given appropriate levels of academic challenge, in consultation with the Deputy Head of Department.
  • Embed the school’s Principles of Great Assessment by developing and maintaining the systematic use of formative and summative assessment that informs Key Stage 4 teaching and learning, including the use of systematic feedback loops to classroom teachers of results from assessment hour. Keep an accurate and up to date database of assessment;
  • Support the teachers of Key Stage 4 with behaviour management strategies and procedures;
  • Support the Deputy Head of Department’s work to enhance students’ academic performance through the use and review of performance data to identify underperformance and implement interventions.
  • Work with the Head of Department to improve the quality of teaching and learning by ensuring that colleagues are guided to select the most appropriate methods to meet the needs of the full range of students and ensure they are supported in developing their teaching, planning and assessment skills;
  • Work with the Head of Department to use analysis of results to reflect carefully and critically on teaching and learning strategies and support the Head of Department in planning and delivering CPD sessions;
  • Ensure that the required learning resources are in place for Key Stage 4, including homework, textbooks, Morning Maths resources, access to electronic resources and online learning platforms.
