KS1 Class Teacher for children with SEND/additional needs job summary

We are looking for someone who:

- Is an inspiring teacher who cares about their pupils

- Is able to communicate well and build excellent relationships with children, families, colleagues and other professionals

- Is flexible and open to learning, developing and adapting

- Is resilient, with a ‘can do’ attitude (and is able to inspire the children to have the same approach!)

Both you and the children will benefit from excellent support, both within the school and from our trust and our wider network, to ensure our provision meets the children’s varying needs.

Thomas’s Academy is a vibrant school with a focus on enabling children to become confident, independent and thoughtful learners. We are very proud of our school, which we describe as inclusive, innovative and inspirational.

We are led by our values, and we achieve strong outcomes for our children.

Ofsted (2023) say:

- This is a warm, welcoming and inclusive place. Pupils are happy and feel safe.

- Leaders are ambitious and have high expectations of all pupils, including those with SEND.

- Pupils are inspired by the broad and interesting curriculum.

- Pupils participate actively in a variety of opportunities in the classroom and beyond.

- Staff feel supported and are proud to work at the school.

We have a beautiful school site in Fulham, on the bustling New King’s Road between Parsons Green and Putney Bridge. We are surrounded by great local shops and amenities and fantastic transport links (we’re less than ten minutes’ walk from the tube).

We are in the process of joining a small local multi academy trust and we are very positive about the future. The trust is highly regarded for its staff training, career development, pedagogical support, high quality curriculum and excellent resourcing. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are very welcome and receive exceptional support. We also welcome applications from more experienced colleagues.

- “I haven’t come across any other Trusts offering this level of training and it’s made me feel like I’m in good hands at the start of my new career.” (Early Career Teacher)

- “Staff across the Trust’s schools work together to plan their teaching. This sharing of expertise and resources is of much benefit to pupils and keeps staff workload manageable.” (Ofsted).

We warmly encourage you to contact us to arrange a visit, if you would like to look around before you apply. Early applications are encouraged, and we reserve the right to close the vacancy once we have a suitable candidate for the role.
