KS2 Class Teacher
To actively pursue the agreed aims of the school and wider Trust, maintaining an outstanding educational ethos, care for the pupils and respect for colleagues whilst undertaking all duties in a professional manner.
To teach pupils within the school and to carry out such other associated duties as are reasonably assigned by the Headteacher.
• You are a full time class teacher for children on the school roll.
• You are required to carry out professional duties under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher, to include:
o Planning work for the children in accordance with school policies.
o Preparation of work according to your planning.
o Teaching the children in your care across the whole of the curriculum.
o Carrying out regular assessment, recording, monitoring and record keeping according to school policies, maintaining appropriate records which monitor the progress of the pupils
o Responding to children's work regularly in accordance with the school’s marking policy.
o Writing reports for parents, other teachers and outside agencies as necessary.
o Identifying children who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and taking appropriate action in line with school policies.
o Liaising closely with the SENDCo regarding the learning needs of pupils.
o Establishing a high quality environment for the children and yourself to work in.
o Attending meetings with other members of staff, such as weekly staff meetings, meetings with other teaching staff in the relevant year group and regular pupil progress meetings.
o Managing support staff in your classroom.
o Promoting your own Professional Development.
o Leadership of a subject area (as mutually agreed with the Headteacher)
o Helping to establish and maintain the ethos of the school.
o Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children with, in accordance with the Trust’s and the school’s safeguarding policies.
o Promoting equal opportunities within the school and seeking to ensure the implementation of the school’s equal opportunities policy.
o Lead assemblies as required.

Recent experience of working in Key Stage 2
Knowledge and understanding of:
the National Curriculum the theory and practice of providing effectively for the individual needs of all children (e.g. classroom organisation and learning strategies);
the monitoring, assessment, recording and reporting of pupils’ progress;
the statutory requirements of legislation concerning Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, SEND and Safeguarding/Child Protection;
the importance of working closely with colleagues to ensure positive transitions;
effective teaching and learning styles.
