KS2 Class Teacher job summary

Responsible to: Headteacher
Job Purpose: As taken from the Teachers Standards Document

The post holder is required to carry out the duties of a school teacher as set out in the 2013 Teacher’s Standards Document.
Education is a teachers first priority and they are accountable for ensuring the highest standards possible both in their work and conduct. Teachers have a strong subject knowledge and skills which they keep up to date. They act with honesty and integrity are self-critical, build professional relationships and work with parents to create the best outcomes for their pupils.
The Job Description should be read in conjunction with the range of professional duties expected of teachers and as set out in the Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document. The post holder will be expected to undertake duties in line with these professional standards for qualified teachers.

Key Accountabilities
Planning, Teaching and Classroom Management
 Identify clear teaching and learning outcomes with appropriate challenge, high expectations and a clear vision on assessment criteria.
 Organise and manage groups or individual children ensuring differentiation of learning requirements which reflects all abilities and identifies SEN
 Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s policy and encourage punctuality, good behaviour and high standards of work
 Ensure classroom support is used effectively
 Encourage children to think and talk about their learning to develop independence and to be proud of their work
Pastoral
 Keeping records and reports on the personal and social needs of children
 Ensuring good communication with parents, carers and external agencies
 Participate in meetings arranged for the above purpose
Monitoring, Assessment and Reports
 Assess leaning objectives and how well they have been achieved and use them to improve aspects of teaching
 Contributing/providing oral and written assessments, and reports relating to individual children
Review, Training and Development
 Review methods of teaching and programmes of work
 Participate in further training and professional development and work as a member of a strong team of staff
