What skills and experience we're looking for
Do you want something different?
A driven and forward-thinking school, which believes passionately in excellence for all pupils. We strive for marginal gains, with outstanding results and a climate of determination and fun. Talavera Junior School offers fantastic CPD opportunities and a community which is supportive, diverse and engaging. If you like a challenge, we are the school for you: leadership will support you every step of the way to have true and life-long impact on children in their learning and in their lives.
Talavera Junior School is an oversubscribed three-form school (currently four form) nestled in the heart of Aldershot. During our most recent Ofsted in June 2024, we retained our ‘Outstanding’ judgement in all areas. Nothing but the absolute best is good enough for our children. We are part of Bold Futures federation which includes Wellington Community Primary School and Marlborough Infants School; this has allowed all schools to share best practice and the capacity to provide exceptional CPD and career opportunities. This role could be placed across the collaboration for the right candidate.
Previous graduate of University of Winchester, Laura Harman-Box is currently our Head of School.
Talavera Junior School was my first placement school when I was a student at Winchester University. I was immediately captivated by the vibrant community and the passionate drive for high standards for every single pupil. From there, having visited other schools, I knew it was the place for me - and I've not looked back since. I worked in year 6 as an ECT, building a strong picture of the end of Key Stage 2. From there, I became a year leader, a Deputy Headteacher and am now Head of School. This is because the leadership team champion excellent CPD; they offer support to help you flourish and thrive as teachers and as leaders. We work hard but we have exceptional impact on children's life chances, creating students who are aspirational, have integrity and demonstrate resilience.
We are looking for a permanent teacher to start work in September 2025. However, an earlier start date could be possible.
We are a unique collection of schools that are fast-paced, exciting and with palpable cultures where we are serving our community. We learn together, we strive together and we champion every single child.
Our school has leading teachers who are brilliant models and we are a Maths Mastery Hub School alongside a Literacy Tree Flagship School. We celebrate our diverse communities which bring vibrancy and energy to our classrooms.
Would you like to develop and be an inspirational teacher?
Could you be part of our dynamic, fast-paced and fun team?
Do you have that something special that builds life long-learners?
Do you have leadership potential?
Do you want to serve a diverse and open community?
