A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a KS2 class
teacher to join our amazing team to lead SEND from September 2024. This post
would suit a dynamic teacher with a secure knowledge of the primary curriculum
and experience of leading SEND.
The Governors of Our Lady and St Kenelm RC School are looking for someone who sets an excellent personal example and professional leadership, will ensure that the Catholic ethos, rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church, permeates all aspects of the life of the school.
We are looking for a teacher who will:
- Be a committed practising Catholic or someone who is willing to be supportive of our Catholic ethos and practices.
- Ideally someone who has completed their NASENCO qualification or is willing to complete the new statutory NPQ for SEND leads.
- Have a track record of delivering excellent outcomes for children
- Demonstrate exceptional behaviour management skills
- Lead and plan activities, delivering inspirational lessons based upon sound curriculum knowledge
- Identify and address gaps in children’s learning
- Understand the impact of the learning environment upon children and staff and make changes efficiently and effectively
- Monitor children’s progress, make accurate observations, assess their achievement, record results and action findings
- Have a ‘can do’ mentality with a desire to overcome any challenges that arise
- Have experience of working with pupils with a range of additional needs including but not limited to: Autism, Attachment Disorder, ADHD, anger management issues
- Have a current awareness of the SEND agenda, this is essential
- Have evidence of consistently good practice that demonstrates impact, when providing quality SEND support
- Have the highest expectations for all children, ensuring outstanding progress.
- Demonstrate high expectations of learning, achievement & behaviour
- Be able to motivate, challenge and enthuse our children
- Show excellent communication and inter-personal skills to lead a team effectively
- Inspire and engage all children creatively in the learning process.
- Be committed to developing our team and maintaining effective relationships within the parish and wider school community.
- Participate fully in the curricular, extra-curricular and religious life of our school.
- Aspire to excel professionally.

Our Lady and St Kenelm is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and therefore the post is subject to an enhanced DBS statement.
We also conduct online searches for all posts in line with guidance from KCSIE 2024. Online searches are not part of the shortlisting process itself and candidates will have a chance to address any issues of concern that come up during the search at interview.
