What skills and experience we're looking for
Experience:
The classteacher should have experience of:
Teaching at Key Stage 2.
Responsibility for leading a subject area with proven impact (ideally in Writing or Maths for at least 1 year with proven impact).
Working in partnership with parents.
The classteacher should have knowledge and understanding of:
the theory and practice of providing effectively for the needs of all children (e.g. classroom organisation and learning strategies); statutory National Curriculum requirements at the appropriate key stage; the monitoring, assessment, recording and reporting of pupils’ progress;
the statutory requirements of legislation concerning Equal Opportunities, Health & Safety, SEN and Child Protection; the positive links necessary within school and with all its stakeholders; effective teaching and learning leading to good or outstanding achievement for all pupils.
Skills:
The classteacher will be able to:
promote the school’s aims positively, and use effective strategies to monitor motivation and morale;
develop good personal relationships within a team; collaborate to foster a positive team spirit; establish and develop close relationships with parents, governors and the community; communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) to a variety of audiences; have a good knowledge of ICT for teaching and recording purposes; create a happy, challenging and effective learning environment.
In addition, be able to promote a subject area effectively within the school.
Above all, to demonstrate good practice at all times.
