The United Schools Trust is seeking to employ an outstanding full time Key Stage 2 teacher at Kingsteignton School from September 2022 with a proven, successful track record in KS2 preferable. This is a fantastic opportunity and all applications will be considered carefully.

An interest/expertise in Music/RE/PSHE subjects would be desirable as would an interest in outdoor learning (Forest schools). Experience in teaching in Key Stage 2 with demonstrably successful outcomes would also be preferable.

Kingsteignton School is a free school which opened its doors in September 2016 in temporary accommodation in the grounds of St Michael’s C of E Primary School and Nursery in Kingsteignton.
The school will eventually build to a 420 pupil school with two form entry and with a nursery which can accommodate 60 children. The new build school is state of the art with a very high specification, particularly in terms of technology and is situated on the outskirts of Kingsteignton. The move from temporary to permanent accommodation took place in January 2019. The school, at present, has 184 pupils which will build to 214 in September 2022. The successful applicant will be extremely fortunate in having the very exciting and unusual opportunity to be integral in the development of a new school and it is envisaged will play an important role in promoting the school and continuing to build an outstanding reputation in the local and wider community.
The school works in close partnership with St Michael’s Primary school and the United Schools Federation (USF) of which St Michael’s school is a member. The Executive Head and the Heads of the schools in the USF applied for and were approved by the Secretary of State to open a new free school in Kingsteignton in 2016/2017 which is now part of the United Schools Trust and for which there is now a vacancy for a Key Stage 2 class teacher from September 2022.
Kingsteignton School is a ‘dementia – friendly’ school and, as part of this, we are very keen to develop healthy lifestyles for all our children and staff including growing and cooking our own home-grown food and embracing regular and varied exercise to keep physically and also mentally fit. As part of our dementia friendly ethos, we are also very keen to embrace the use of the outdoor environment in as many areas of the curriculum as is possible and an interest/expertise in science and outdoor learning would be desirable.
