KS2 Teacher (Temporary Post) job summary

Come and join our fantastic team at Hucknall National Primary School!

We are looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic KS2 teacher to join our amazing team in our constant pursuit to be the very best. We are a large primary school on the outskirts of Nottingham in a very welcoming and close community. Our school motto is ‘Growing together in learning, love and faith’, which we aim to live out every single day. As a Church school, we strongly follow Christian values and support all our families in trying to do the same.

Due to the current situation, the recruitment situation may feel quite daunting. Our aim is to make sure that our school is as right for you, as you are for us. It is important that you understand this process to support you in your application.
• The Headteacher will offer virtual tours of the school if requested.
• If your application is successful, you will be invited to take part in a virtual lesson with some of our children and a virtual interview.
Although we would rather meet you in person, under current social distancing guidelines, we do not feel this is possible.

This post will be temporary for one year with a view to the role becoming permanent. This is to ensure the position is right for you and due to normal recruitment procedures not being in place. There will also be a probationary period of one half term for the same reasons. Interviews will not proceed if references have not been obtained.

Are you:
• A skilled classroom practitioner with some experience in KS2?
• Are you a team player and dedicated to working collaboratively?
• Are you a teacher with flair, flexibility and drive?
• An educator who can bring out the best in every single child?

We offer:
• Wonderful children - they make our school so happy and successful.
• An amazing team of staff – they are dedicated, hard-working and caring.
• A supportive governing body, parents and local Church community.
• A very supportive senior leadership team. There are no excessive meetings, and an insistence on supporting workload and wellbeing. This includes guaranteed time for you to plan and support learning.

Please telephone us to arrange a virtual visit. To request an application pack please email : office2@hucknallnational.notts.sch.uk

History and background

The National School has a long history in Hucknall. It was originally started in the Church porch in the 18th Century. The current Hucknall National Primary School was formed in September 2006 from an amalgamation of the existing Infant and Junior Schools. Pupils who come to our school are joining the National School family for their education from 4 to 16 years (or even 18!). The school is held in high regard in the town and local area. Pressure for places for the initial reception classes far exceeds those available.

Many of the staff are practising Christians; all are fully in sympathy with the caring, Christian ethos of the school. The school is fortunate to have such a hard-working, experienced and highly-skilled staff team. Our senior leadership team is very supportive, we believe in servant leadership and that every leaders role is to enable you to work at your very best. So, when you visit, you will immediately see that we have a very unique building, steeped in history, but what really makes our school special is the people that are in it.

Situation and Facilities

Hucknall National Primary School is a Voluntary Aided Church of England school and is the property of Southwell and Nottingham Diocese. It caters for children 4 to 11 years old. We currently have 420 children on roll in 14 classes. The school is situated in its own grounds with its entrance off Montague Road. The spacious building has large playgrounds and fields and a large sports barn. It also has a lovely wooded area that has recently been developed. We are due to convert to academy status in the next academic year with the Southwell and Nottinghamshire Multi-Academy Trust.

Mission Statement

Growing together in learning, love and faith.

Our Values

We have a core set of 12 Christian values that we follow. These are courage, acceptance, perseverance, trust, generosity, hope, forgiveness, thankfulness, friendship, justice, compassion and respect.

The school is currently graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in July 2016.
