What skills and experience we're looking for

Attention all teachers! Are you feeling overwhelmed by your workload? Do you struggle to find balance between work and self-care? If so, we have the perfect solution for you!

Join our great school, where we prioritise the well-being of our teachers. We understand that a happy and healthy teacher leads to a better learning environment for pupils. That's why we have implemented strategies to reduce teacher workload and promote self-care.

About Windrush

We are a split-site, four form entry school based in Thamesmead (1 form entry) and Charlton (3 form entry). We have been graded as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for the last 13 years. This post will be at our Charlton site (SE7 8FE) and could be in either year group in KS2, depending on a candidate’s preference and experience.

This job is at our Charlton Site.

What the school offers its staff

Our school offers:

  • 2 additional days of leave
  • Purposeful meetings- not always weekly-some meetings will be related to reading around a subject or an email sent. Time is precious!
  • Emails are only to be sent during working hours of 8-6pm- no contact outside of these hours or weekends
  • Medium term planning day for the year group team every half term
  • Weekly PPA held as a team of four teachers where workload and resourcing is shared
  • No daily planning
  • Recognising and valuing everyone's opinions
  • Encouraging staff in next career steps
  • Support time and training for subject leaders generally within directed time
  • Good communication channels- school intranet, daily siteupdates, business meetings
  • A supportive and involved SLT who work together tirelessly for the best interests of the pupils and staff
  • High staff morale with two schools working together as one
  • Feedback policy where live marking in the lesson is the most important. No whole class marking of books outside of the lesson
  • Protected lunchtimes for teachers- not expected to do duties
  • Access to on site counsellors
  • Well-being working party that meet regularly
  • CPD for teachers which is relevant and steeped in research

If you're ready to join a school that values your well-being and is dedicated to helping you thrive both personally and professionally, apply to join our team today!

Join us and rediscover the joy of teaching in a supportive and nurturing environment.
