Assistant Headteacher – Personal Development and Emotional Wellbeing
This post will have a part-time teaching timetable

Mount Tamar is a vibrant, well established KS1-KS4 specialist school in Plymouth with a history of continuous improvement and an exciting future! Our school was rated good by Ofsted in July 2017 and our residential provision has just been awarded an outstanding judgement. Mount Tamar caters for students with a wide range of complex needs, including SEMH, autism, attachment difficulties and trauma. We are looking to appoint a highly effective, passionate and inspiring leader to join the senior leadership team. The successful candidate will have energy, ambition, varied experience and an understanding of the challenges facing our young people and proactively enabling their social development. The candidate will be an outstanding teacher and excellent behaviour manager; organised, with clear attention to detail and a successful track record within special needs. This post provides an excellent opportunity for a confident leader with the opportunity to progress.
This pioneering new role will allow the candidate to consolidate and build on the excellent work currently in place across all of our sites, with the exciting opportunity to develop an innovative approach in supporting our young people on an individual basis.
The successful candidate will need:-
• To be passionate about education and committed to achieving high standards
• A tolerant and compassionate nature with excellent interpersonal skills pared with imagination, drive, optimism and resilience
• To be a highly effective communicator who will be vigorous in promoting school improvement and will be committed to high standards and opportunities for all
• An analytical solution focussed approach using evidence based practice
• An understanding of how to support students who have experienced ACE’s
• A natural ability in training, motivating and leading a staff team
• To work closely with multi agency professionals, both in school and the community, including the school therapy team.
• An understanding of the specific needs of our students with a firm belief in the ability of all young people to succeed
• To forge links with other local post 16 providers and employers
