KS5 Coordinator for Maths job summary

This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, dynamic Ofsted rated ‘good’ school where all can thrive. We value our staff and want to develop them to the full in a supportive environment. Our current postholder is moving out of London and so we are seeking to recruit someone to develop his legacy. We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for Mathematics, is innovative and committed to excellence and will enjoy working collaboratively to secure the best possible outcomes for our students. The Maths Department is a highly successful and cohesive team who work effectively and supportively to ensure that our students make excellent progress and enjoy the subject. Year on year, outcomes are superb, significantly higher than national standards. Progress at GCSE level is exceptionally strong (2019 P8 of 0.5; 2018 P8 of 0.4; 2017 P8 of 0.68). Our top set Year 11 groups also do the algebra award. At A level we run 2 large Maths classes in both Year 12 and Year 13 and A level performance is also exceptionally strong regularly achieving over 50% A*A and an average VA score of 0.5. We also run a successful Further Maths course, attracting highly talented mathematicians. The Maths department achieves some of the best results in the school and always achieves a significantly positive residual, testament to teachers’ commitment and passion and the students’ enjoyment of the subject. There are lots of opportunities for students to develop mathematically outside lessons, such as Southampton University Cipher Challenge for A Level Maths students and Maths club for younger students.
