KS5 Tutor job summary

Working closely with the Head of the Sixth Form, and the Deputy Head of the Sixth Form, you will assist them to promote high standards of behaviour and self-respect amongst students, support students to aim high and make excellent progress during the Sixth Form. You will need to be able to engage and establish relationships with all students in the year groups and to become accepted as a person to whom they can turn for guidance and mentoring; use student data to identify students that are underachieving and need support, and to guide both staff and students accordingly; run a small mentoring / aim high group on a weekly basis.  

Suitable applicants will have relevant experience, the ability to inspire and motivate young people. You must have a high attention to detail, experience of using and maintaining databases, excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with confidential information.

 You will also be flexible and adaptable and be able to use your own initiative.

Thurston Community College is a large popular mixed comprehensive school. It comprises of two distinct and specialist sites. Our Thurston Campus, for students from Year 7 to Year 11 is situated four miles east
of Bury St Edmunds. Thurston Sixth; Beyton Campus is located in the nearby village of Beyton, offering a bespoke centre of excellence for students in Year 12 and Year 13.  Both locations provide an exciting,
