What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Learning Support Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our students' academic and personal growth, working closely with teachers and other staff to deliver tailored support plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support a team of Learning Support Assistants.
- Work closely with teachers to plan and deliver individualised learning programs.
- Provide direct support to students, both in and out of the classroom.
- Monitor and track student progress, adapting strategies as needed.
- Foster a safe and positive learning environment.
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and external agencies to support student development.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEMH education.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children with SEMH needs.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development (Level 3 or higher preferred).
- A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students.

Grafham Grange School is a special school set in 42 acres of beautiful Surrey countryside in Grafham. Our school offers education and care for up to 52 students, referred from local authorities across the South of England from the age of 10 to 16 (Year 6 to Year 11).
All our students have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) as their primary identified need, though the majority of students have additional special educational needs such as autistic spectrum conditions; speech, language and communication difficulties; ADHD; opposition defiance; medical conditions and attachment disorders.
