Lead Practitioner for Computer Science job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational Lead Practitioner for Computer Science, to support the leadership of this growing team in delivering an outstanding curriculum in our brand new state of the art building which opened last year. This summer our first cohort sat their GCSEs and we opened our Sixth Form, which includes a T Level in Digital Production as well as A Level Computer Science.

We are recruiting for our last year of expansion and seek to bring another experienced colleague into the team, as well as someone who has the pedagogical skills to support early career teachers develop their craft across the school. The successful candidate will be an outstanding and reflective practitioner, excited by taking risks, and accepting that failure is a part of the learning process. They will promote lifelong learning through their constant drive to improve their own practice, as well as supporting those they work with to develop their skills.

Saracens High School has a family ethos and is committed to supporting staff in this rewarding job, while recognising the stress it puts upon us. With generous teacher loadings, the opportunity for colleagues to take family days, and access to a staff counsellor, we do all we can to look after our staff.

We have strong ties to the wider Saracens organisation, and we base all we do on the values Discipline, Hard Work, Honesty, and Humility. We have a family ethos, that focuses on character development and making memories, as much as outstanding academic attainment. Our aim is to develop aspirational life-long learners, who will thrive in their chosen career path, embracing our values, and demonstrating a strong moral purpose and a desire to make a positive contribution to society and their local community. You will be helping to create a distinctive culture and philosophy, so from the moment someone enters the school, they know this is where the learner is empowered to 'be the best that they can possibly be'. The individual abilities of each pupil are recognised and where coaching for life skills, as well as academic excellence, is at the core of all we do.

Saracens High School is a secondary school which opened in September 2018 for Year 7 pupils, growing each year until the school is full in 2024 (1130 pupils). We serve a wonderfully diverse community in the Colindale area of North London, which also has exceptional transport links with the Northern Line (Colindale) and mainline trains (Mill Hill Broadway), and easy access to main commute routes (M1, A1, A41).
