The Mathematics Team at Felixstowe School consists of a hardworking and friendly
group of teachers whose aim is to allow students to experience the imagination, creativity and beauty inherent within Mathematics. At the heart of our curriculum intent is the principle of developing the characteristics and dispositions of inquisitive Mathematicians.
Mathematics is an essential element of communication. When students are involved in Mathematical learning at Felixstowe School, we encourage them to think like a Mathematician and to develop their positive habits. We encourage our students to consider the world by viewing it through the eyes of a Mathematician. Using this lens and the challenges we design for students; our aim is to help them make sense of the complex problems that exist in the world now and into the future.

We do not believe that Maths should be confined to the classroom, so we offer aim to offer an expanding range of extra-curricular and enrichments opportunities.
We are looking to appoint an inspirational Lead Practitioner of Mathematics to this newly created post, with a passion for accelerating progress within our Mathematics department. You will have the ability to teach Mathematics across the full age and ability range and will be able to enthuse, engage and motivate our students to achieve their full potential. This is an exciting time to join our journey of improvement and play a key part in transforming the lives of our young people.
The ideal candidate will:
Be an excellent Mathematics teacher and exceptional practitioner
Be passionate and ambitious about their own career development
Be actively engaged in research and development relating to the pedagogy of teaching and learning in Mathematics
Support the Mathematics team, the school or groups of schools in provision of high-quality schemes of learning and assessment
Be effective in disseminating materials and advising on practice, research and CPD provision in teaching and learning in Mathematics
Have the ability to engage and inspire colleagues to develop their teaching and learning repertoire in Mathematics
Be a change catalyst and an effective leader and coach in the Mathematics team and across the school
Support and coach teachers who are experiencing difficulties
Be a committed team player
Have the ability to engage and inspire pupils and build excellent relationships
Be committed to Felixstowe School's ethos.
