What skills and experience we're looking for

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and innovative Lead Practitioner of Geography to join our Humanities faculty at Thomas Knyvett College. We are looking for an inspirational teacher with the ability to create a nurturing learning environment; a commitment to ‘Bringing out the Best’ in every student; and a genuine passion for their subject.

Teaching and learning is at the heart of everything we do at Thomas Knyvett College. We prioritise planning time for teachers with 16% PPA compared with the 10% national average. Thomas Knyvett College is a place where you really do have the space to teach. We encourage colleagues to try new things, take risks and have fun in the classroom. Our teachers are encouraged to be themselves whilst reflecting on the latest developments in pedagogy and how they can be applied. Central to our ethos are the positive relationships and personalised approach which we take with all our students.

What the school offers its staff

Thomas Knyvett College is a welcoming, creative and community-based school where through our values of being proud, respectful, open-minded, unified and determined we set high standards which enable our students to develop into confident and responsible members of the global community. We have a real focus on collegiality and staff wellbeing.

Students at Thomas Knyvett enjoy, and are reflective about, their learning. Teachers develop and explore the passions for their subjects. We offer a broad and rich curriculum which allows our students to thrive whatever their interests, and we also provide a wealth of enrichment opportunities beyond the curriculum. Ours is a school where students are celebrated and supported as individuals to have the very best experiences.

We are proud to ‘Bring out the Best’ in young people of all abilities and aptitudes, and therefore increase their life chances for their future success and fulfilment.
