What skills and experience we're looking for
Required for September 2024/January 2025, a well-qualified and outstanding classroom practitioner to teach Maths and lead an established department that consists of a Head of Maths, a Lead Practitioner and 5 specialist Maths Teachers. We are looking for an experienced and motivated colleague who could add value to our already successful Maths team. This is a great opportunity to lead cross curricular Maths in a fantastic school. As a Lead Practitioner you would also lead on developing and implementing a whole school numeracy strategy, create and deliver interventions for KS3/4 students and support teachers in the department to develop their teaching and learning.
About the role
As a Lead Practitioner you would be at the forefront of developing and sharing best practice in Maths learning and teaching, as well as innovating to get the best out of the students and your department. The Sir John Colfox Academy’s focus is developing teaching and learning strategies that make a real difference to students’ engagement and progress. We believe that action based research is the key to improving teaching and the learning experience of our students and as the Lead Practitioner you would lead one of these action research groups to help improve the students experience and outcomes in Maths.
If you want to work with a successful department in a school that values its staff and is at the heart of the community, then we look forward to receiving your application. This post is suitable for an ambitious and forward thinking candidate and we welcome applications from teachers who have at least three years’ experience of classroom practice.
We have a mentoring system to support leadership skills for those who have not yet had opportunities for this. This is a fantastic opportunity to move into middle leadership or existing middle leader who wishes to take on a whole school area to gain experience and skills required to move into a senior leadership position in the future.
