The Discovery Academy is seeking to appoint an ambitious individual to work collaboratively to raise standards and expectations at all levels throughout Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of teaching and learning in the Science Faculty and throughout the whole Academy. They will be committed to the highest standards of achievement and will be an outstanding practitioner, with a clear vision of how to raise standards through high quality teaching and learning.
At the Discovery Academy our guiding principle is to ‘expect excellence’ in everything that we do, to ensure our students ‘Aspire’. ‘Aspire’ represents the aims, values and behaviours that we strive towards (Ambitious; Skilled; Positive; Independent; Respectful; Equipped) and our curriculum is designed to support students in reaching these. Alongside a curriculum that offers breadth and ambition, strong pastoral support ensures students are kept safe and are well looked after and ensures a sense of family is felt throughout the Academy.
The Academy boasts outstanding facilities, a state-of-the-art learning environment and was judged ‘Good’ following an inspection by Ofsted in January 2019. Our growth programme includes a £2 million additional teaching facility, as well as the benefits a large Academy can offer, such as a comprehensive professional development and leadership opportunities.
