Lead Practitioner of Science job summary

What is our team looking for?

We are always on the search for authentic teachers who enjoy what they do, who have great subject knowledge, charisma and have a strong sense of moral purpose.

Our Science team is searching for a Lead Practitioner (LP) or experienced teacher to join them – perhaps the candidate will wish to train towards the LP accreditation. The position is available because of expanding pupil numbers at A level where Economics is now our most popular course after a number of years of excellent results. We also wish to run the GCSE for the first time in September. We need your expertise to tackle the new curriculum and help lead the department to even greater success for our students. Our LPs are high profile and receive brilliant training to master their craft and become inspirational leaders.

Your opportunity

We can offer you the opportunity to advance your career within a supportive academy environment. You will be part of a Federation established in developing practitioners and nurturing excellent future leaders, with unrivalled opportunities for progression; whatever your aspirations as a teacher, middle or senior leader, our Teaching School Alliance provides a range of bespoke courses and qualifications, including our Aspiring Leaders NPQML and NPQSL programmes to help you achieve your ambitions more quickly.

Experienced candidates may be able to apply for Senior Teacher status, paid on the Upper Scale, and/or apply to join our accredited Lead Practitioner training programme. If you are already accredited as a Lead Practitioner, great! For us it’s about finding the right fit for the school.

Commitment to safeguarding

The Harris Federation and all our academies are committed to ensuring the highest levels of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, references, an online search, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed.
