What skills and experience we're looking for

London Nautical, A City of London Academy seeks a Lead Teacher of Science, reporting to the Headteacher, and under the immediate direction of your Leadership / Line Manager. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of driving achievement and development within the science curriculum / department. We are seeking a Lead Teacher who is now looking for a more challenging role to develop their career, make a wider impact across the whole department and who will be able to positively contribute to the departments and students’ progress whilst maintaining excellent behavioural standards within the student body.

You will deliver the highest possible educational standards and create a high expectation culture in which students feel safe, valued and motivated to succeed, the successful candidate will be fully committed to their students achieving outstanding outcomes. A TLR will be awarded on the basis of experience and qualification.

  • A passion for the teaching of science and the ability to inspire and enthuse students of all aptitudes
  • Strong subject knowledge
  • High expectations of students’ learning, achievement and behaviour
  • Enthusiasm for developing innovative approaches to learning, teaching and student participation
  • A clear understanding of the latest curriculum and pedagogical developments in Science
  • An ability to work as part of a team and closely with departmental colleagues in delivering the strategic and developmental aims of the Science Department
  • Excellent organisation skills
