Job description

We are seeking to appoint a highly effective, enthusiastic and experienced teacher to the post of Lead Teacher of Science at the Academy. This is a new post created to support the further development of teaching and learning in science and to contribute to teaching and learning developments across the academy.

Essential educational requirements

Degree in a subject relevant to the post.
Qualified Teacher Status.

Essential skills and experience

Excellent teaching performance with students in the 11-16 range.
Successful experience in motivating young people to achieve excellent academic outcomes.
Successful experience in monitoring the effectiveness of teaching, learning and assessment and identifying areas for improvement.
Successful experience in coaching and mentoring staff to bring about sustained improvements in performance.
Successful experience of monitoring and evaluating the impact of actions to inform future planning.
The ability to self-manage, work independently and use own initiative to meet aims and objectives.
Knowledge of the latest research and evidence available to support improvements to teaching and learning in science.
Committed to raising standards within the Academy.
Has the ability to work under pressure and meet competing deadlines.
