Lead Teaching Assistant (permanent) role available at Ash Field Academy

Salary: Grade 8 Pay Point 15-18 (FTE salary £28,605 - £31,029 per annum)

Approximate actual starting salary: £21,497.02 per annum

Hours: 32.5 hours per week ; 39 weeks per year (Term-time only plus Inset days)

Working Pattern:

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 08:30am to 15:30pm.
  • Tuesday 08:30am to 16:00pm.
  • Friday 09:00am to 15:30pm

(inclusive of 30 minute unpaid lunch break)

Appointment will be subject to Discovery Academy Trust pay and conditions.

Appointment subject to satisfactory completion of a 6-month probationary period

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To support class teachers with the delivery of the curriculum and all aspects of personal and social development.
  • To lead the class in times of teacher absence such as a planned absence or a short-term sickness absence.
  • Under the direction of the class teacher, help to prepare resources and the learning environment so that pupils have the best access to learning.
  • To assist the class teacher in lesson planning and the creation of effective learning opportunities.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracy and English/literacy
  • Experience of supporting planning, evaluation and delivery of learning activities for children and young people in a formal setting.
  • Knowledge of child protection, health and safety procedures and their application in a school setting.
  • Awareness of a range of frameworks that support the education, development and well-being of children.
  • Ability to effectively manage pupil behaviour in accordance with school policy and procedure.
