Leadership 6-11, depending on previous experience

Leader of Learning Year 11 / Post 16 job summary

Hospital and Outreach Education AP Academy (HOE) are seeking a Leader of Learning to join the Leadership Team as part of our service covering North and West Northamptonshire. The position is to start in January 2025.

HOE is part of the Skylark Partnership Trust, a multi academy trust for settings delivering education for pupils with medical needs. Our award-winning school has a climate of high expectations of pupils, despite the impact of their illness, enabling them to access education and fulfill their potential. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful AP Academy and help shape the future of the MAT moving forward.

This role is focused on our provision for pupils in year 11 and those Post-16 pupils who missed out on their year 11 due to illness. You will manage a team of teachers and support staff working with pupils from North and West Northamptonshire. You will be predominantly based in our Delapre Learning Centre in Northampton but will be required to travel to meet with schools and other services countywide.

The successful candidate will combine an excellent track record of successful leadership experience developed in mainstream and/or alternative provisions, who can show evidence of impact across several areas of school leadership, most notably in holistic pupil outcomes.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage the demands and needs of all stakeholders will also be required. The ideal candidate will have existing leadership experience such as Head of Year, SENCO or Assistant Headteacher although for the right candidate this could be an ideal first move onto the leadership ladder. They will possess strong communication skills, understanding the importance of being a visible leader, role model and ambassador for pupils and parents. Candidates must be committed to working in partnership with local agencies and schools and developing ways to engage with parents/carers and forge effective partnerships with them.

The salaray range is leadership 6 - 11, depending on previous experience.

The successful candidate will be closely aligned with the core values and ethos of HOE and possess a genuine understanding and appreciation of the challenges faced by pupils with medical and mental health difficulties in accessing education.

We value diversity and encourage applications from all members of society, regardless of background, gender, ethnicity, disability or age.

You are strongly advised to contact us to arrange to find out more about the role and visit us before completing the application. Please ring the office on 01604 662250 or email pwhite@nhoe.org.uk to arrange a visit or discussion.
