Leader of Social Sciences job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated and committed individual to join our team as Leader of Social Sciences.
The ideal applicant will have an excellent track record of teaching and student progress within a successful secondary school or teaching training programme. They will be expected to deliver outstanding lessons to ensure excellence and achievement for all learners, with a true commitment to raising standards. Applicants will need to have experience of using a variety of approaches to continually enhance teaching and learning throughout the school and across the full age and ability range. The ideal applicant also need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to forge strong working relationships.
The applicant will support effective leadership and management as a leader within the Humanities faculty, thereby build and maintain an effective teaching team. The ideal candidate will lead the curriculum development and quality assurance of social sciences specialisms. You will also support/lead on data and reporting to develop the work of the faculty.
The school’s most recent inspection report, Ofsted (November 2021) commented that ‘Pupils are happy to come to this school…. and the curriculum is ambitiously designed to stretch pupils regardless of their starting point.’
The successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check. Waverley School is committed to the protection and safety of its students.
