Leading Practitioner in English job summary

To teach English at KS3-5 (20.5 teaching periods per week and 4.5 periods of non-contact time).

To be a model of outstanding classroom practice with the ability to share this with colleagues.

To work with the Head of English to develop and implement teaching and learning strategies throughout the English department which develop teaching practice and raise pupil progress.

To work with the AHT i/c of interventions to develop, implement and monitor the school’s literacy strategy to ensure pupils make outstanding progress in their application of literacy skills across the curriculum.

To contribute to the induction and CPD of ITT students, NQTs, the English Department and wider school staff and mentor ITT students in the English department.

To investigate best practice in other schools and evaluate innovative English curricular strategies to inform practice and report to Head of English/AHT (i/c intervention).
