The Excel Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic energetic Learning & Teaching Assistant to carry out SEND assessments, plan appropriate provision, monitor progress of SEND students and to work collaboratively to raise standards and expectations at all levels throughout Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will also deliver numeracy intervention. This is a fantastic opportunity for an inspiring and aspirational individual with a good standard of numeracy and literacy skills to support teachers and make a difference to the future education of the Academy’s students.
Our guiding principle is to ‘expect excellence’ in everything that we do. Every student is encouraged to achieve their best in the pursuit of excellence. Our strong ethos of pride and mutual respect, together with high quality teaching, ensures our students understand our high expectations for behaviour and have opportunities to excel in learning. Excel Academy students leave as aspiring, motivated and confident young adults.
The Academy boasts outstanding facilities, a new building and state-of-the-art learning environment. A recent Ofsted visit confirmed that the Academy remains a ‘good’ academy and is on a journey to become outstanding. They acknowledged that the Academy is highly regarded in the community and is the ‘school of choice’ locally, as a result it is significantly over-subscribed in all year groups.

Holden Lane High School converted to become the Excel Academy in March 2014 and has consistently been one of the highest performing academies in Stoke-on-Trent. Student numbers are increasing rapidly as the success of the Academy has led to many years being oversubscribed. It is the school of choice in the north of the city and is housed in new build and refurbished buildings.
The Academy was inspected by Ofsted in November 2016 and maintained a ‘Good’ judgement and is focused on becoming an outstanding provision.
