What skills and experience we're looking for

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated instructor aspiring to move toward leadership.

Due to a review and restructure of our curriculum provision we are recruiting for a Learning Beyond the Classroom (LBC) Instructor at Greenwood School. Greenwood is a Pupil Referral Unit serving the 9 secondary schools in the New Forest we have approximately 70 students on our roll at any one time and work with upwards of 50 students through our outreach programmes either in their mainstream schools or their homes. Students are referred to Greenwood for a variety of reasons including being medically unfit for school, emotionally vulnerable, at risk of permanent exclusion or because they have been permanently excluded from school.

The successful candidate will be leading our Learning Beyond the Classroom (LBC) curriculum working in collaboration with our Academic, Therapeutic and Outreach specialist teams to provide support, engage, stretch and challenge young people who present with a spectrum of needs.

We are looking for talented, creative individuals who are outstanding practitioners in their fields. LBC is a new addition to the curriculum at Greenwood and the successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, implementing and securing the successful day to day running of the curriculum both for students on Greenwood site, students who attend our mainstream feeder schools and those who require an alternative approach to the normal mainstream experience.

What the school offers its staff

At Greenwood School we will work together as a community to ensure that all the young people in our care receive the best possible preparation for independent adult life. Learning from a young person’s early childhood experiences, education journey and current home circumstances, we aim to create for them a bespoke learning journey.

Commitment to safeguarding

Greenwood School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
