Learning Bridge Support Manager job summary

Starting as soon as possible, we are looking to appoint a colleague to to ensure the effective day to day running of The Learning Bridge Centre. As the lead for this role you will be required to support students who face challenges to attend all of their main stream lessons. Student will include those with; emotional based school avoidance, mental health support plans, medical needs support plans and pastoral support plans, and, at times, special educational needs provision alongside the individual learning department. Main Job Purpose

To ensure the effective day to day running of The Learning Bridge centre. As the lead for this role you will be required to support students who face challenges to attend all of their main stream lessons. Student will include those with; emotional based school avoidance, mental health support plans, medical needs support plans and pastoral support plans, and, at times, special educational needs provision alongside the individual learning department.

Key Tasks

To co-ordinate with staff to provide ongoing academic work for students.

To supervise the completion of appropriate work to ensure a positive return to lessons when and where appropriate.

To promote a positive and engaging environment within The Learning Bridge centre, that facilitates the transition to mainstream lessons as part of an individual’s “Bridge Plan”.

Work alongside teachers and the tutor team to develop and implement Attendance Plans for students, liaising with teaching and pastoral staff.

Ensure effective and rapid transfer of appropriate information to appropriate school staff regarding barriers to learning.

Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self reliance.

Encourage students to interact and work cooperatively with others and engage all students in activities.

Support students during times of transition.

Support with the feedback provided to students and parents in relation to progress and achievement, maintaining regular contact with parents to remove barriers to mainstream attendance.

Challenge and support with signs of disengagement and contribute to specific interventions to encourage re-engagement

Support the information gathering for relevant pastoral support measures.

Listen, understand, empathise and support students and parents; helping them to overcome their barriers to attendance, providing intensive support for students identified as at risk of missing out on attendance due to EBSA.

Be aware of the latest developments, legislation and research on EBSA and mental health needs and use the EBSA toolkit to establish productive working relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.

Ensure that all statutory requirements with regard to pastoral support are fulfilled.

Co-ordinate support for students with social, behavioural and emotional difficulties, either long or short term, making links with sources of support as appropriate.

Prepare documentation and take minutes of meetings (parental, outside agencies with school).

Acting on the monitoring of absent students and work with the attendance team to improve attendance.

Follow child protection procedures, guidelines and policies, and ensure the Student Development Team work within these to promote the well being of students within the school.

The postholder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description. Such variations are common occurrences and would not of themselves justify the regrading of the post. In cases, however, where a permanent or substantial change in the duties and responsibilities occurs, consistent with a higher level of responsibility, then the post would be eligible for re-evaluation.
