Learning Engagement Mentor job summary
We are looking to appoint a Learning Engagement Mentor to join our pastoral team. The responsibilities in the job description could be undertaken by one person full time or the role split between two part-time staff.
As a school our mission statement is 'caring for others - achieving excellence'. We believe that only when children are nurtured and supported will they develop the confidence to 'lift their wings and soar like eagles to embrace life in all its fullness'.
Over the last five years we have developed a committed and highly effective pastoral team, led by our Deputy Headteacher. Last year we opened a £400,000 self-funded Harbour room - a dedicated space to support pupils' social and emotional needs and to extend our work with families. This is an exciting time to join the school as we further develop our provision.
In the last three years we have been awarded the Wellbeing Award and the Leading Parent Partnership Award.
Please see the job description and person specification for full details.
If this sounds like the job for you, please do get in touch. Visits to the school are vital to understand the role.

Our school is a two-form entry school on the development of Shilton Park in Carterton. The school, which opened in 2002, has grown gradually to the size it is today, resulting in a real sense of community. The children and staff often talk about the family of St John’s and the unity within the school, where we all work together and support each other. Our mission statement is caring for others, achieving excellence. Our values of respect, unity, self-belief, success, responsibility and inspire underpin all we do. As a school we are fully committed to ensuring that every child and adult reaches their full potential.
Our school was judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in January 2020. Noted in the report, ‘Staff are proud to work at the school. They feel greatly supported by leaders and governors.’
