Learning Mentor; Attendance job summary

The role involves supporting the Attendance Officer, contacting parents of poor attenders, by telephone, letters and face-to-face meetings where appropriate, and chasing up absences and punctuality. The successful postholder will investigate and monitor the reasons for poor attendance, identifying any emerging patterns for which a whole-school approach can be taken. An important part of the role will be to work closely and effectively with teachers and families to ensure good attendance.

Mentors need to be educated to Level 3 and have good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills. Excellent interpersonal skills are also required
