What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governing Body of Hunter’s Bar Junior School are looking to appoint a part-time Learning Mentor (30 hours per week), Monday to Friday (8.30am-3:00pm), term time only. We welcome applications both from developing and experienced Learning Mentors and from those with other relevant experience. The key elements of the role will include:

  • Forging excellent relationships with colleagues, parents and most importantly, our children
  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, staff and parents
  • Addressing the needs of pupils who require support to overcome the barriers to learning they experience both inside and outside the school, sothat they are able to achieve their full potential
  • Offering support and advice to parents and have aknowledge and appreciation of the range of extended services that could be drawn upon to provide extra support
  • Ensuring that the transition from one phase to another is smooth and that pupils receive continuity of support where appropriate
  • Working closely with leadership to improve attendance
  • Be one of the deputy safeguarding leads in school and the main contact for parents and other external professionals
  • Leading the team of mid-day supervisors
