What the school offers its staff

Are you looking to improve your work/life balance?

We know working in schools can be stressful and it is easy to give over a lot of your personal time to work. We strongly believe that work should not take over every aspect of your life in order to support both your physical and mental health. And so;

  • We limit paperwork and meetings to the necessary,
  • Finish at 1pm on a Friday,
  • Have a robust staff wellbeing programme in place that is constantly evolving,
  • We ensure training is meaningful and given time to embed.

You will have the opportunity to develop your career in a School and Delta Education Trust, a growing Trust. Our ethos is encompassed in our vision “Learning together in pursuit of happiness”.

Further details about the role

Teaching Assistant - The Quay School, based at Poole Hospital School Room – The Learning Zone (will be moving to Bournemouth Hospital in the near future)

Teaching Assistant terms: Grade E, £26,095-£27,814 full time equivalent; actual salary £22,331-£23,802 for 34.5 hours per week (with Friday afternoons off), term time only working. Plus, generous sick pay and pension scheme.

Imagine a classroom where resilience shines, where learning isn’t just about textbooks but about hope and so much more. Welcome to the Learning Zone – a unique and inspiring place where education transforms young lives, even in the most challenging times.

We’re looking for a compassionate, adaptable, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our incredible team.

Here, no two days are the same! One moment, you might be supporting a young student in our bright and welcoming classroom, and the next, bringing learning to a child’s bedside.

The Learning Zone offers education to any school aged student who comes into the hospital. Our mission is simple but powerful: to ensure that no young person falls behind in their education while in hospital and that learning makes a positive contribution to their well-being.

Our amazing team can typically work with up to 11 students on a single day and over 150 students a month—some for just a few hours, others for longer stays.

Why this role is special - You'll:

  • Help young people keep learning, stay connected, and feel valued, even while in hospital.
  • Work with students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds—each with their own story.
  • Join a supportive, passionate group dedicated to ensuring no child falls behind.
  • It's more than education – Help bring normality, joy, and confidence to children at a difficult time in their lives.
  • We make sure every child gets the chance to learn, laugh, and look ahead with hope.
