What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a Learning Mentor to join The Portsmouth Academy to support the social, emotional and mental health of our students.The role will include one to one and small group mentoring support to improve academic progress and learning by delivering a range of teaching and learning interventions to targeted pupils.

Under the direction of the Inclusion Provision Manager/SENCO, you will support students with the development of emotional literacy skills as well as providing curriculum support.

  • You will have experience of working with young people to support their physical and mental wellbeing and will possess excellent written and communication skills.
  • You will be educated to a minimum requirement of Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • The ideal candidate will have high levels of motivation, energy and commitment with a reflective approach to the role and the ability to work to build positive relationships with students and their parents/carers.
  • You will be able to demonstrate that you can work as both part of a team and contribute to the effective organisation of the school with administrative support.
